Thank you for your interest in touring Taliesin West, a United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) World Heritage Site. We are excited to have the opportunity to share this truly unique, cultural treasure with you.

With an historic, desert campus – spanning nearly 500-acres – there are a number of procedures and precautions we must all follow to ensure a fun, informative, and safe visit. Because of this we understand you may have some questions before you plan your trip.

Is my tour guided?

Guided by Wright: Chihuly in the Desert is delivered via audio guide, and takes 75-90 minutes. It features information about both Frank Lloyd Wright and Dale Chihuly, and takes you inside the home and studio. This experience is delivered via the Smartify app directly on your personal smartphone and headphones. Visit our Tours page for more details.

In A New Light: Wright & Chihuly is a 90-minute guided tour, featuring information about Frank Lloyd Wright and Dale Chihuly. Led by an experienced guide, you will survey the grounds and explore inside the home and studio.

Chihuly Nights is a self-guided outdoor experience, exploring the artwork of Dale Chihuly in our unique desert setting. You will have a map to guide yourself across the grounds of Taliesin West at your own pace, and visit five Chihuly artworks outdoors.

Will we see Wright’s home and studio?

It depends on the ticket you hold.

Guests on Audio and Guided Tours will see the inside of the buildings.

Guests attending a Program will see limited indoor spaces – only the area where the Program occurs.

Guests attending Chihuly Nights will see the outdoors and outside of the home and studio, but do not go inside.

Can we walk around on our own?

It depends on the ticket you hold.

  • Guests on Audio Tours must stay on the tour route.
  • Guests on Guided Tours must stay with their guide.
  • Guests attending a Program must stay in the area where the Program occurs, with the host.
  • Guests attending Chihuly Nights are able to self-guide, in the designated, publicly accessible area, during the program.

Are photos allowed during my visit?

Yes. We welcome photography during your visit, for personal, non-commercial use only.

Tripods and drones of any kind are prohibited.

How do I purchase tickets if I’m a Member of the Frank Lloyd Wright Foundation?

  1. Please register for an online account using your email account you provided as a member.
  2. Go to the ticket purchase page.
  3. At top right-hand corner click on “Register.”
  4. Please complete the fields and create a password.
  5. Once you have registered an online account, return to the purchase page
  6. Go to the top right-hand corner and “Sign-in.”
  7. If you have already registered an account just “Sign-in.”

I am in need of additional assistance or accommodations. How can I visit Taliesin West?

A National Historic Landmark built in the early 20th century, Taliesin West was not designed to meet contemporary accessibility standards. Buildings at Taliesin West are terraced into the landscape, resulting in gravel walkways, steps and uneven surfaces. Narrow ramps are available for guests to use at their own discretion throughout the tour.

All Taliesin West Tours are walking Tours and guests with special requests and needs are encouraged to contact our Tour Department at 480.627.5375 prior to booking their visit.

How do I access my Reciprocal Benefits as a Member from a different Frank Lloyd Wright site?

If you are visiting Taliesin West from a Frank Lloyd Wright Reciprocal site, please use your access code in the ‘Discount code’ box once you have added tickets to your cart.  The discount will be displayed at checkout. page5image24852160

Are there additional ways or times to visit other than a Tour?

Yes. You can visit Taliesin West the following ways:

During Chihuly Nights, you can self-guide across our outdoor spaces, within the areas that are open to the public.

Programs for the public are also offered year-round, including film screenings, social programs, lectures, and more – and all require a ticket to attend.

The signature experience at Taliesin West is an Audio or Guided Tour, offering the most in-depth information about our entire site.

Advance online ticket reservations are suggested for all Tours and Programs. A limited number of onsite tickets may be available day-of programs, but they often sell out in advance.

Taliesin West is not open for casual visitation, without a ticket.

Do I have to buy my ticket in advance?

Can I bring my children?

Children are welcome at Taliesin West!

We suggest the Chihuly Nights experience for families with children, due to the flexible nature of the self-guided experience.

Programs specifically designed for children are also available – including Camp Taliesin West during summer, spring, and winter. Visit our Education page to see our programming.

Additional evening experiences for the family will be offered throughout the year, so check the website often.

Audio and Guided Tours are not intended for children under the age of 6.

Does this ticket also get me access to Chihuly in the Desert at Desert Botanical Garden?

No. They are two separate ticketed locations.

Tours are sold out for the date I want! Can I just come and walk around?

Unfortunately, no. You must hold a ticket for an Audio Tour, a Guided Tour, Self-guided Experience, or Program.

The Frank Lloyd Wright Store is open daily, and welcomes visitors without a Tour or Program ticket.

Is there parking?

Yes. Taliesin West has limited parking spaces.

You should arrive no earlier than 20 minutes prior to your Tour time. Guests who arrive earlier than the allotted 20 minutes will be asked to re-route and return within the 20-minute window.

Ride-Share waiting zones are available.

Is the Store open?

The Frank Lloyd Wright Store is open daily. Please check the store hours.

If you cannot visit in person, consider our Online Store or give us a call at 480.627.5398.

What should I wear for my tour?

The majority of our Tours are a combination of indoor and outdoor viewing. Please look at local weather and plan ahead for your visit.

  • Hydrate – We do not sell beverages on site. Please bring bottled water for your tour.
  • Sun protection – Taliesin West is in the open desert where even the winter months are sunny – wear sunscreen and consider a hat and/or umbrella for shade.
  • Clothing – Dress appropriately for the weather. Daytime visits can get quite hot, while mornings and nights can get cool quickly. Track local weather before your visit.
  • Shoes – There is an abundance of desert flora and fauna, along with uneven walking surfaces. Please wear appropriate footwear ensure your safety.

Is there food available or allowed at Taliesin West?

Unfortunately, we do not currently sell any food or beverages at Taliesin West. Guests are welcome to bring their own beverage and pocket snacks to be consumed outdoors.

Are there convenient places to rest during my 90-minute visit?

We have limited indoor and outdoor seating available throughout our campus.
