The Arts at Taliesin West
Since 1938, artists, architects, and designers have come to Taliesin West to be inspired by the ideas of Frank Lloyd Wright and the beauty of the Sonoran Desert. Now you too can be part of that legacy. The Arts at Taliesin West is a series of art-making workshops hosted at Wright’s own desert laboratory.

Mosaic Workshop with David Jarvinen; The Mosaic Guys!
Join artist David Jarvinen of the Mosaic Guys for a 3.5-hour, beginner-friendly mosaic class. You will walk away with an 8-inch x 10-inch framed mosaic, inspired by one of Frank Lloyd Wright’s geometric designs. The class will include a brief highlights tour of Taliesin West. All materials will be provided.

Introduction to Embroidery with Crystal Peralta
Join artist Crystal Peralta for a beginner-friendly embroidery class. Students will be guided through the process of creating an image of Taliesin West using several embroidery techniques. Participants are encouraged to add their own dramatic flair to the image, choosing their own colors and embellishments.

Cut Paper Workshop with Artists-in-Residence Katie Parker and Guy Michael Davis
Join Frank Lloyd Wright Foundation Artists-in-Residence Katie Parker and Guy Michael Davis, of Future Retrieval, for a unique cut paper workshop. This program will explore different ways to use colored paper to recreate imagery inspired by and found at Taliesin West. Participants will learn how to layer cut paper to establish lines, shadows, depth and clarity. Using an image found or created on site, the artists will explain how to move through a series of steps to turn it into a paint by number, adding in ways to complicate, abstract, or simplify the forms.

Desert Landscape in Layers: Painting the McDowell Mountains with Watercolor (LIVE, ONLINE)
Join Rachel Eskandari, of Pink Puddle Studio, for an online watercolor class celebrating the beauty of the McDowell Mountains. The desert landscape deeply inspired Frank Lloyd Wright so much that he chose to build Taliesin West in the foothills of this mountain, allowing the architecture to exist in harmony with the surrounding desert.
In this class we will explore a loose, expressive wet-on-wet watercolor technique to create a desert landscape painting. This class is designed to encourage creativity and experimentation while capturing the beauty of the McDowell Mountains. Open to all skill levels, this workshop invites both beginners and experienced painters to connect with the desert.

Wright Inspired Embroidery with Crystal Peralta (LIVE, ONLINE)
Join Crystal Peralta for a beginner-friendly embroidery workshop where we will be working through the Abstract Stained Glass Saguaro inspired pattern! The design itself is an interpretation of the stained glass piece created by Frank Lloyd Wright. During this online workshop, you will be guided through the steps of prepping your embroidery hoop, transferring your pattern, threading your needle and the satin stitch in order to complete the design. This project will not be fully completed in class as embroidery is a slow art, however each guest will learn the necessary steps to complete the project on their own.
