General Programs FAQ

Thank you for your interest in the Cultural Programs at Taliesin West, a United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) World Heritage Site. We are excited to have the opportunity to share this truly unique, inspirational treasure with you.

With a historic, desert campus – spanning nearly 500 acres – there are a number of procedures and precautions we must all follow to ensure a fun, informative, and safe visit. Because of this, we understand you may have some questions before you plan your trip.

Below you will find answers to some common questions. And, of course, feel free to give us a call, or send us an email should you need further assistance!

Do I have to buy my tickets in advance?

Tickets to Cultural and Youth and Family Programs sell quickly, and capacities are limited. Advanced online ticket reservations are strongly encouraged.

If I purchased a ticket, but cannot attend a program, can I get a refund?

It is possible to cancel your ticket and receive a refund prior to a program. However, refunds are not possible within 24 hours of the program’s start time.

What if a program is canceled due to the weather?

In the event of inclement weather that causes a program to be canceled, ticket holders will receive a refund for the full amount paid. If a program is postponed, tickets can be rescheduled to a new date and time if the ticket holder chooses. If you cannot attend the rescheduled program, a refund will be offered.

Ticket holders will receive communication through the email listed on their confirmation receipt.

What time should I arrive for my program? Is there parking?

Taliesin West has limited onsite parking. Rideshare drop-off and waiting zones are also available. We strongly encourage guests to not arrive more than 15 minutes before the program start time.

Tickets to programs only grant you access to the program space(s). If you would like to see more of Taliesin West’s grounds and property, please consider purchasing a tour.

I am in need of additional assistance or accommodation. How can I attend your programs?

Taliesin West strives to meet the needs of all individuals. We are eager to accommodate guests at programs and during their visit to Taliesin West. Programs at Taliesin West are site-specific and staged throughout our campus. Will I be able to see Wright’s home and studio while attending a Cultural Program?

Cultural and Youth and Family Programs do not include formal tours of Taliesin West unless explicitly listed in the program description. You can purchase tickets for various tours from our Visit page.

Programs at Taliesin West take place in different parts of the home and studio depending on the theme and design of the program. Tickets to a program only grant access to the space(s) designated for the program.

What do I need to bring to the program?

Individual programs may require guests to bring their own supplies. Please check individual program details on the ‘Purchase Ticket’ webpage so you are prepared. Programs can be a combination of indoor and outdoor experiences. Please look at the local weather to plan for your visit.

  • Sun protection– Taliesin West is in the open desert where even the winter months are sunny – wear sunscreen and consider a hat and/or umbrella for shade.

  • Clothing– Dress appropriately for the weather. Daytime visits can get quite hot, while mornings and nights can get cool quickly. Track local weather before your visit.

  • Shoes– There is an abundance of desert flora and fauna, along with uneven walking surfaces that include concrete, desert masonry stone floors, and gravel. Please wear appropriate footwear to ensure your safety.

Can I bring my child?

Children are welcome at Taliesin West and different programs are designed with different audiences in mind.

Many of our Cultural Programs are designed for adults; however, we do not restrict children’s access to Cultural Programs.

Programs specifically designed for children are available – including Camp Taliesin West during summer, spring, and winter. Visit our Youth and Family Programs page to see our programming specifically for children and families.

Additional experiences for the family will be offered throughout the year, so check the website often.

Will the Frank Lloyd Wright Store be open?

The Frank Lloyd Wright Store is open daily but is often closed during program hours. Please check the store hours.

If you cannot visit in person, consider our Online Store or give us a call at 480.627.5398.

A program I want to attend is listed as a MEMBER EVENT or MEMBERS-ONLY PROGRAM. What does that mean?
