Frank Lloyd Wright’s ‘Toy Hill’ For Sale
Frank Lloyd Wright | Nov 20, 2017
Designed by Frank Lloyd Wright in 1948 for Sol Friedman, Toy Hill in Pleasantville, New York, is for sale for $1.5 million.
Unique among Wright’s Usonia II development, the design for Toy Hill embraced Friedman’s occupation as a toy maker with the playful use of circular forms.
A mushroom-like carport, with a round roof supported by a dendriform column, appears to grow out of the ground adjacent to the home.
Included in the home, which is located approximately 50 miles north of Manhattan, are the original Wright-designed oak built-ins, fireplace, and furniture.
Toy Hill is essentially made up of two intersecting circles, with the smaller circle containing guest space, workspaces, and the entrance to the home, and the larger space containing the living and dining spaces. There are 3 bedrooms—located on the upper level of the home—and 2.1 baths.
