Desert Mirror
The Frank Lloyd Wright Foundation is focusing on the uniqueness of the Taliesin West site and its ability to inspire artists through a program called the Exhibitions Artist-in-Residence program.
Working with artists living in the region, or staying onsite for a dedicated period of time, these exhibitions are created exclusively for our space. They are inspired by our site’s history, architecture, and natural setting, and they confront topics we explore in our work at Taliesin West.
In our newest exhibition by local artist Erika Lynne Hanson, Desert Mirror, one artist’s response to Taliesin West becomes a mirror for your own.
On display from January 16, 2026 – May 31, 2026, Erika Lynne Hanson reflects the layered experience of being in the desert of Taliesin West—its history, materials, beauty, and questions. Her work challenges you to look inward, outward, and homeward.

Hanson spent time walking Taliesin West, absorbing its textures, structures, changing landscape, and silences. What she felt inspired her response and became what she made. Her work invites you to experience the site in a new way: not just through what you see, but through what it stirs in you. Her work ultimately fosters a deeper empathy for, and an awareness of, all the layers of the world we live in today.
This exhibition is available as part of the Self-Guided Audio Tour. You’ll be guided through the site and learn how Hanson’s work and Wright’s historic desert camp beautifully intersect.

Eco-Print Silk Scarf Workshop
Join artist-in-residence Erika Lynne Hanson during this beginner friendly class. The 3-hour workshop includes a brief highlights tour of Taliesin West and a hands-on workshop where you’ll make and take home an original silk scarf, dyed with eco-friendly materials. All materials provided.

Artist-Led Exhibition Walk: Desert Mirror
Celebrate Architecture Week (April 12-18) with a 90-minute artist-led walk through the Desert Mirror Exhibition. Led by Erika Lynne Hanson, this journey will focus on how Taliesin West inspired her work and include unseen elements like infrastructure and landscape influences. Delivered in conjunction with the Preservation Team at Taliesin West, this special event is for a small group – so get your tickets early!
