Perfect for fans of Old Hollywood, the Taliesin West Film Series offers a rare opportunity to experience timeless films in the intimate, architecturally rich setting of Frank Lloyd Wright’s Taliesin West. Hosted in the historic Cabaret Theater, the series brings audiences together to celebrate a shared love of classic cinema and Wright’s iconic architecture, a tradition inspired by the Wrights themselves, who once gathered here to watch films.

October 23, 2026, War of the Worlds (1953)
Scientist Clayton Forrester (Gene Barry) and Sylvia Van Buren (Ann Robinson) are the first to arrive at the site of a meteorite crash. Soon after, an alien war machine emerges and begins killing at random. The Marines are called in, but they’re no match for the aliens’ force field. Forrester and Van Buren, however, are able to wound one of the creatures and procure a sample of its blood. They take it to Los Angeles where they hope, through testing, to be able to discover the aliens’ weakness.
November 20, 2026, The Treasure of the Sierra Madre (1948)
In this classic adventure film, two rough-and-tumble wanderers, Dobbs (Humphrey Bogart) and Curtin (Tim Holt), meet up with a veteran prospector, Howard (Walter Huston), in Mexico and head into the Sierra Madre mountains to find gold. Although they discover treasure, they also find plenty of trouble, not only from ruthless bandits lurking in the dangerous Mexican wilderness but from their own insecurities and greed, which threaten to bring conflict at any moment.
December 18, 2026, Some Like It Hot (1959)
After witnessing a Mafia murder, slick saxophone player Joe (Tony Curtis) and his long-suffering buddy, Jerry (Jack Lemmon), improvise a quick plan to escape from Chicago with their lives. Disguising themselves as women, they join an all-female jazz band and hop a train bound for sunny Florida. While Joe pretends to be a millionaire to win the band’s sexy singer, Sugar (Marilyn Monroe), Jerry finds himself pursued by a real millionaire (Joe E. Brown) as things heat up and the mobsters close in.
January 22, 2027, Strangers on a Train (1951)
In Alfred Hitchcock’s adaptation of Patricia Highsmith’s thriller, tennis star Guy Haines is enraged by his trampy wife’s refusal to finalize their divorce so he can wed Anne, the daughter of a senator. He strikes up a conversation with a stranger, Bruno Anthony, and unwittingly sets in motion a deadly chain of events. Psychopathic Bruno kills Guy’s wife, then urges Guy to reciprocate by killing Bruno’s father. Meanwhile, Guy is murder suspect number one.
February 26, 2027, Rashomon (1950)
Brimming with action while incisively examining the nature of truth, “Rashomon” is perhaps the finest film ever to investigate the philosophy of justice. Through an ingenious use of camera and flashbacks, director Akira Kurosawa reveals the complexities of human nature as four people recount different versions of the story of a man’s murder and the rape of his wife.
March 19, 2027, Cool Hand Luke (1967)
When petty criminal Luke Jackson (Paul Newman) is sentenced to two years in a Florida prison farm, he doesn’t play by the rules of either the sadistic warden (Strother Martin) or the yard’s resident heavy, Dragline (George Kennedy), who ends up admiring the new guy’s unbreakable will. Luke’s bravado, even in the face of repeated stints in the prison’s dreaded solitary confinement cell, “the box,” make him a rebel hero to his fellow convicts and a thorn in the side of the prison officers.
April 23, 2027, Panic in the Streets (1950)
After Dr. Clint Reed (Richard Widmark) is called in to supervise an autopsy of an unknown man, he discovers that the John Doe died of pneumonic plague. After revealing his discovery to the mayor and city officials, Reed is informed that he has 48 hours before the public will be told about a potential outbreak. Joined by Captain Tom Warren (Paul Douglas) and his wife, Nancy (Barbara Bel Geddes), Reed must race against time to find out where the unknown man came from.
May 28, 2027, The Absent Minded Professor (1961)
Disney comedy about a professor who invents a revolutionary flying rubber, which he dubs “flubber”. Not only does the professor’s Model T Ford fly through the air with the greatest of ease, but his secret weapon helps the college basketball team to victory, thanks to flubber-enhanced boots. While his long-suffering girlfriend tries to win the professor’s heart, crooks are trying to steal his formula.
