Frank Lloyd Wright’s Liberty Magazine Covers

WORKING ON LIBERTY COVERS. OK. The drawing of circles that W. is holding is a rendering called March Balloons. The drawing just to the right of W.s pencil is another graphic design from the same series that we call the Liberty magazine covers.
The covers were designed in 1926 for Liberty magazine, although they NEVER made it to print. In later years new apprentices would be assigned to copy these designs as practice in pencil drafting (with T-square, triangle, and compass) and graphic design.
Just above the March drawing is a print of a drawing for the Beth Sholom synagogue which would have been in construction. The print is stamped 1958, thus I think this photograph was made then as well.
Mr. W. is most likely looking over the drawings in consideration for a book he was working on; The Wonderful World of Architecture.
