Prairie School Style George Madison Millard Home For Sale

The 1906 George Madison Millard Home in Illinois, long considered a prime example of Wright’s Prairie School style, is listed for sale at $950K.

The early turn-of-the-century Illinois house Frank Lloyd Wright designed for rare book dealer couple Alice Millard and George Madison, known as the George Madison Millard Home, has just emerged for sale,priced at $950,000.

The 3,061-square-foot four-bedroom property sits on a serene wooded lot located a block from Lake Michigan. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1982. The seller has initiated sensitive restoration work in order to ensure that the home reflects its original design integrity.

The house features details that exemplify Wright’s Prairie School style: board-and-batten siding, brick floor-to-ceiling fireplaces in the living room and a second room, and built-ins including the living room bookshelf and a bench on the first floor flanked by stunning stained-glass windows.
