Wright and Japan

Weltzheimer/Johnson House, managed by the Allen Memorial Art Museum (AMAM)

As part of the Allen Memorial Art Museum’s 2017 celebration of the 150th anniversary of Wright’s birth, join us at the Weltzheimer-Johnson house for an informal talk on Wright and Japan.

We think of Frank Loyd Wright as the iconic American architect, but he had a deep relationship to the art and architecture of Japan. The AMAM’s Joan L. Danforth curator of Asian art, Dr. Kevin Greenwood, will provide an overview of Wright’s dialogue with Japanese architecture and art in his own designs with reference to the house, and his work as a dealer in Japanese art with reference to a Japanese woodblock print sold by Wright in the AMAM collection.
