Taliesin West Live – Mike Kocour Jazz Trio

Immerse yourself in art and wonder as you sit in the historic spaces at Taliesin West and enjoy live music, dance, or performances, just like the Wrights did! We invite you to experience the site as it was once used, as different spaces come alive with some of the best entertainment Phoenix has to offer. Each evening’s performance will tie into the history and cultural atmosphere built by the Wrights at Taliesin West, while simultaneously shining a light on new generations of performers. Taliesin West Live will leave guests with a deeper appreciation for the beautiful harmony that comes when art and architecture unite as one

We can promise an evening of upbeat and rich melodies that will leave you wanting more of their jazzy sounds in the future.

Mike Kocour

About The Trio

Michael Kocour is a jazz pianist, a Hammond B3 organist, and a composer. He also serves as Director of Jazz Studies in the School of Music at Arizona State University. An active performer for more than three decades, Kocour has appeared at venues worldwide and has been a guest on Marian McPartland’s internationally syndicated NPR program “Piano Jazz.”

Matt McClintock relocated to Phoenix, Arizona in 2012 to study jazz performance at Arizona State University. Under the guidance of Michael Kocour and Dom Moio, McClintock blossomed into a reliable professional in both performance and education. Upon receiving his Bachelors of Music in 2016, Matt was invited back to Arizona State University to work as a Graduate Teaching Assistant and receive a Masters of Music degree, studying with esteemed drummer Lewis Nash.

As a performer, McClintock has shared the stage with names such as Benny Golson, Michael Dease, Sean Jones, Eric Schneider, and the National Symphony of Ecuador.

Vincent Thiefain is a graduate of ASU’s jazz program where he studied under the direction of Ben Hedquist, Michael Kocour, Jeff Libman, Lewis Nash and Rufus Reid. He is a freelance bass player based out of Tempe and has performed with some of the best local and national musicians and educators, such as Lewis Nash, Joe Lovano, Michael Kocour, and others. While studying at ASU Vincent also had the opportunity to play with artists such as Benny Golson, Lewis Nash, Cyrille Aimee, and others.
