The Southwest Shakespeare Company comes to Taliesin West to present Mojada: A Medea in Los Angeles.

Written by the recipient of many prestigious awards such as the MacArthur and Mellon fellowships, Luis Alfaro, Mojada is a retelling Euripides’ classic tale of a princess who’s followed her lover into exile in a foreign land. Alfaro decided to convert the story into a tale of Mexican immigrants trying to make it in Los Angeles.

The play has been staged at Oregon Shakespeare Festival and the Getty in Los Angeles, and is only possible here by special permission of the playwright. It will be directed by Vice Provost of Arizona State University Head of Inclusion (Oregon Shakespeare Festival Dramaturg and Southwest Shakespeare Company Board Member), Dr. Tiffany Ana Lopez and Melanie Queponds.
