‘Frank Lloyd Wright at 150: Reappraisals and Revisions’ brings together 12 leading scholars to consider Wright’s work, the nature of influence in architecture, the identification of national character in the modern period, and continued capacity of Wright to surprise us with his multiplicity of faces.

As the 150th anniversary of Frank Lloyd Wright’s birth comes round in 2017, he appears omnipresent in his familiarity but difficult to assess compared to the other founders of Modernism. Combining reappraisal and contextualization of his work from leading scholars, this weekend also considers the nature and extent of his impact in Britain from the 1920s to the present. This raises general questions about the nature of influence in architecture, the identification of national character in the modern period, and continued capacity of Wright to surprise us with his multiplicity of faces.
