Arizona Historic Preservation Conference: Design in the Desert

June 6, 2018 – June 8, 2018
Hotel Valley Ho

The Arizona State Historic Preservation Office, the Arizona Preservation Foundation, and the City of Scottsdale invite you to join them at the 16th Annual Arizona Historic Preservation Conference. The 2018 conference, “Design in the Desert,” is being held in Scottsdale, Arizona at the beautiful Hotel Valley Ho, June 6-8, 2018.

The goal of the conference is to bring together preservationists from around the state to exchange ideas and success stories, to share perspectives and solutions to preservation issues, and to foster cooperation between the diverse Arizona preservation communities. Preservation is in our nature; it is inherent in everyone. From the time we are very young, we possess the fundamental instinct to protect that which is important to us: our memories, our history, and places that affect our lives. At this year’s conference, we will focus on the various elements that comprise “Design in the Desert,” whether combining the cultural landscape with the built environment, managing expansion while enhancing our historic preservation efforts, or ensuring that our designs contribute to the desert’s natural beauty. Whatever your interpretation of “Design in the Desert” may be, we seek your presentation proposals for workshops and training sessions for our annual professional development conference for historic preservation professionals.

The 2018 Arizona Historic Preservation Conference will feature a half-day of pre-conference training workshops, two days of 50-minute concurrent sessions, and two or three keynote / featured speaker presentations. Session focus areas include:
